OFFICIALS NEEDED

If you have ever thought about becoming an ice hockey official, either a referee or scorekeeper (or both!), you services are needed as quickly as you can be trained.

REFEREE

The local referee association, IHONC, is looking for officials to referee adult and youth ice hockey games at the Ice Centre of San Jose, Iceoplex in Fremont, Ice Chalet in Cupertino and the Ice Chalet rink in San Mateo.

All referees should attend an USA Hockey clinic in order to be certified. The clinic dates are coming up soon, and include both an on-ice and off-ice session. Further information regarding the clinic dates can be obtained from IHONC at referee@ihonc-ca.com

IHONC is looking for both experienced hockey players that want to broaden their ice hockey experience as well as entry level officials who want to improve both their officiating and playing skills. IHONC will conduct training classes for referees throughout the year in addition to the USA Hockey clinic, as well as provide referee evaluations so new referees can get some mentoring from seasoned veterans.

GAME SUPERVISOR

The Pacific Hockey Association is currently looking for additional Game Supervisors to work at the Ice Chalet Cupertino and Ice Chalet San Mateo rinks. Sometimes referred to as Scorekeepers, a Game Supervisor is an important ice hockey Official. Game Supervisors work with the referees as a team to conduct the games in the most professional manner possible. While playing experience is a plus, some of the best Game Supervisors are actually non-playing officials.

You will be paid while being trained by an experienced Game Supervisor, and eventually you will be given game assignments on your own. For further information regarding the Game Supervisor position, please contact the PHA at pha@playpha.com
